Breast Milk Storage Guidelines For Term Infants
Fresh milk is good at room temperature for 4-6 hours.
Fresh milk is good in the refrigerator (39 degrees F) for 3-5 days.
Fresh milk can be frozen (0 degrees F or colder) for up to 6 months; 12 months if you have a deep freezer (-4 degrees F).
Once frozen milk is thawed you have 24 hours to use it.
Store breast milk in small batches, only 2-4 oz/bag.

If your baby is born prematurely or in the NICU, the guidelines for breast milk storage change.
Fresh milk is good at room temperature: 1-4 hours
Refrigerated milk: 2 days if fresh, 24 hours if thawed
Freezer: 3 months
Deep Freezer: 6 months
