Hummus For You
Let’s Make Some Hummy Hum
Aka Hummus
Are you catching what I’m throwing down? I’m really into foods that are high in protein and fiber.
This is good for all humans, but it’s especially good for the pregnant ones.
Finding yummy and healthy ways to consume more fiber and protein is beneficial to your nutrient deprived body, compressed intestines, and growing babe.
A pregnant (and breastfeeding) body will always prioritize the baby leaving very little left for the mother.
(wait- isn’t this the whole dilemma of motherhood!!!- More on that later)
In the meantime, here’s a tasty lil treat for you, mama. Take some space for yourself before that sweet child of yours leaches it all away.
Spicy Hummus
1 15oz can of chickpeas
¼ cup of tahini
2 garlic cloves
Fresno chili (add as much or as little as you want)
1-2 glugs of olive oil
2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of cumin
Optional (but I love it) ½ tablespoon of Dukkah spice
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix the tahini, lemon juice, olive oil together until smooth. Throw in chickpeas, cumin, fresno chili, salt to taste.
